Banking and financial services have long been the holy grail for attackers. Join Brianna Leddy, Director of Analysis, to discuss digital financial data drives global businesses and economies. With ever-greater rewards, cyber-attackers continue to target finance industry institutions with full force, as well as increasingly advanced attack capabilities.
10:30-10:50 EDT
With the potential ability to shut down an entire organization and prevent it from executing its mission, ransomware is still the leading threat; in 2021 it represented 21% of all attack types according to the latest X-Force Threat Intelligence Index report. These attacks not only test almost every aspect of technical defenses, but also on a broader level, an organizations ability to maintain minimum viable functionality and delivery of services, while responding.
On the plus side however, from hundreds of client engagements, IBM has not only mapped out each of the attack stages and how they can be disrupted, but also how to initiate a CISO driven, cultural shift, towards an organizational wide resiliency strategy, suitable for this particular threat, as well as many others.
Join us to hear what we have learned and where best to augment your defenses against these attacks.
10:50-11:10 EDT
As organizations begin to recover from the pandemic, third-party risk management (TPRM) is more important than ever before. Faced with supply chain disruption and cyber threats, businesses are re-assessing their dependence on partners and taking a closer look at the risk they introduce. According to a recent study by KPMG, third-party risk management is a strategic priority for 85 percent of businesses.
11:10-11:35 EDT
Financial Services is at a crossroads in 2022; there are a handful of absolute truths in B2B today. Data is king, remote workforce is here, consumers/customers are digital first and digital only, digital experience is paramount, integration to ecommerce platforms (micro lending) is imperative, and recurring revenue is everything. Due to this hyper digitalization, security is now becoming a key part of consumers’ purchasing decisions.
In security, this means we need to support on-prem and cloud, devops-focused products with continuous release, identity and zero-trust initiatives (both on products and internally), and increased regulations.
In this session, I will discuss how to address the challenges practitioners face with this digital transformation. Listeners will learn what XDR really means, and why XDR is the security market responding to the changes brought on by this digital transformation. Lastly, I will cover the impact of these changes on security and IT Operations teams.
11:35-12:20 EDT
Ransomware has become more prevalent across all industries, but the banking industry in particular has seen an extreme uptick in ransomware attacks, reportedly seeing an increase of over 1,300% in the first half of 2021 from the same timeframe the year prior. In many cases, these attacks encompass additional concerns involving the exfiltration of data and threats to post that data online or use it to contact customers. The success of ransomware attacks as counted by the number of businesses that pay the ransom to minimize operational disruptions are a major contributing factor causing ransomware to continue to grow. RaaS (Ransomware as a Service) opportunities have opened up ransomware attacks to an even larger audience of bad actors, which has also greatly led to the increase in attacks.
This panel will look at how ransomware attacks and bad actors continue to evolve and become more successful, how to combat this increasing threat, and what to do in the event your institution is the victim of a ransomware attack.
12:20-12:40 EDT
Join Lumu’s CTO Jeff Wheat as he discusses the state of ransomware. During this session Jeff will explain how ransomware is impacting the financial sector, how to prepare for the unexpected, and reviews strategies that produce the highest rate of return to avoid falling victim.
12:40-1:20 EDT
1:20-2:05 EDT
Cloud innovation continues to drive the rapid adoption of cloud services, which offer banks and financial institutions various benefits. With the right security tools and systems in place, cloud services can provide additional controls to improve data security and privacy. Cloud adoption can also improve the institution’s technological infrastructure by enabling them to leverage the power and expertise of their trusted cloud service provider and the specialized tools & frameworks. Additional benefits include cost efficiencies, improved flexibility, and ability to scale IT, among others.
However, migrating to the cloud comes with its own unique risks that must be understood and accounted for, especially in the area of regulatory compliance.
On this panel, our lineup of Industry Experts will address the perceived risks and rewards of cloud migration, give recommendations for putting together a comprehensive plan to securely move to the cloud, and suggest tools and methods banking & financial institutions can use to stay safe & secure in the cloud.
2:05-2:30 EDT
Effective Threat intelligence program to support banking and financial institutions is more complex to build than initially thought of, due to the huge amount of data which could overwhelm the most experienced teams.
The lecture will cover the top 5 steps of how to build a threat intelligence program which is tuned to the organization’s attack surface and will provide real example of intelligence gathered from the dark web covering phishing, data leakage and fraud.
2:30-2:50 EDT
Nothing in security ever stays still, and Zero Trust is no different. While many organizations have begun their journey to zero trust, the elements and opportunities are changing. In this session, we’ll review where zero trust is today, where it is going tomorrow, and how to plan for the zero trust of the future.
2:50-3:35 EDT
