He is an accountant by education and an expert, by trade, in board level strategies that reduce the balance-sheet impact of cyber compromises. He serves as a Board Leadership Fellow and faculty at the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), bringing experience as a Director on; public, private, not-for-profit, technology, media, healthcare, U.S. and international boards. He’s also the National Partner for the Global Cyber Practice, Technology, Strategy, & Innovation for the Newport Board Group. Martinez is an accomplished thought leader in global cyber-economic warfare, and recognized in the Wall Street Journal ® as, “[One of] the most influential, forward-thinking and successful IT Leaders”. He leads one of the most capable threat intelligence organizations in the world as chairman of the Axon Global Alliance, partnering with Israeli and other international innovators. He’s served or is serving as a board level cyber-risk mitigation expert to; the Federal Reserve, the DHS intelligence community, Forbes CEO conferences, Globes International (Tel-Aviv), Fortune 500 and private equity mid-market companies. He also serves as a Fellow and Sr. Advisor at the American University Cyber Governance Center. His board service experience includes; Sr. Advisor to the Office of the CEO of the Association for Corporate Growth Global, the Leadership board of U.S. National Healthcare ISAC (established under executive order of the U.S. President), the Global Institute for Cyber Security Research at NASA Kennedy Space Life Sciences Laboratory, the National Cyber Security Council (a non-profit organization), Globes International (Tel Aviv’s “WSJ”), and the Axon Global Alliance, specializing in Cyber Counter Intelligence with clients in governments and Fortune 500. Since 1993 his enterprise risk management planning and crisis response experience with Fortune 200 includes; CSC, AIG, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Citigroup, and AEGON USA, through crisis such as the 9-11 World Trade Center attack, U.S. Olympic Park bombing, the 2008 financial crisis and over 200 recent, advanced targeted cyber attacks and breaches. He spent 7.5 years with the Financial Services Group of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) negotiating business in over 17 countries. He’s been honored as; a 2015 HITEC Top 100 technology influencer/innovator, recipient of the U.S. Senatorial Medal of Freedom, and the Daughter’s of the American Revolution award. He is DHS certified in Cyber Counter Terrorism & Defense, a graduate of the University of Texas in San Antonio (ranked the #1 cybersecurity school in the country by Fortune 500), and the U.S. Naval Science Institute’s Naval Reserve officer Training Corps. He is active with American University, and Israeli research regarding active cyber compromises and offense techniques that materially impact industries and economies. He teaches several CLE credit courses for top 10 law firms, national bar associations and accounting firms in the U.S. and internationally – 2 of which exceed SEC recommendations for board cyber education.
