Jibran Ilyad is a Managing Director of Incident Response at Google. Jibran brings over 15 years of experience in the field of Information Security, with 12 years specializing in the areas of incident response, digital forensics and threat intelligence. Today, he continues to contribute to the development of policies and procedures for innovation in incident response methodology and threat intelligence initiatives. In 2017, Jibran was honored as Crain’s 40 under 40 for his contributions to cyber security.
Jibran has investigated some of the world’s largest breaches in the financial, technology and defense sectors. This included working closely with law enforcement agencies to track and ultimately arrest major threat actor groups. In 2008, he was respectfully credited with being the first researcher to publish a whitepaper on memory dumping malware and its connection to large scale breaches in the retail industry. Visa Inc. soon thereafter issued Jibran’s findings in a two-page “Visa Data Security Alert.”
As a thought leader, Jibran presented on the topics of computer forensics and cybercrime at several global security conferences including DEFCON, Black Hat, Microsoft Digital Crimes Conference, SecTor and SOURCE Barcelona. Furthermore, he has conducted forensics training and developed a related program syllabus for United States Secret Service (USSS). Jibran is currently an adjunct professor at Northwestern University for their Digital Forensics and Incident Response course, for which he also developed the curriculum for.
In March 2013, Jibran took a sabbatical and went to Pakistan to help out Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in General Elections 2013. He was a member of Social Media Core team where he lead the development for PTI iPhone Application and served as Overseas Volunteers Lead.
