
Mr. Giacobbi entered on duty in 2004 as a Special Agent assigned to the Philadelphia Field Office where he spent six years investigating violent crime, health care fraud, and complex financial crime. In 2010, Mr. Giacobbi transferred to the Buffalo Field Office, Rochester Resident Agency where he worked general criminal matters. In 2011, Mr. Giacobbi was promoted to serve as a Supervisory Special Agent in the Asset Forfeiture Money Laundering Unit at FBI Headquarters, where he had program management responsibility for the Northeast Region. In 2013, Mr. Giacobbi was appointed Senior Team Leader of the Buffalo Evidence Response Team and created a cold case working group within the Buffalo Field Office. From 2014 to 2016, Mr. Giacobbi worked as a Special Agent on the Buffalo Cyber Squad.
In 2016, Mr. Giacobbi became Supervisory Special Agent of the Human Intelligence Squad for the Buffalo Field Office, with additional responsibilities for the Applicant, Foreign Language, Training, and Office of Private Sector Programs. In 2018, he was appointed Director of the Buffalo Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory. A year later, Mr. Giacobbi was selected as Unit Chief of the Hi-Tech Organized Crime Unit where he led the Joint Criminal and Opioid Darknet Enforcement team, a multi-agency intelligence-driven initiative which targeted online illicit drug trafficking.
Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Giacobbi worked as a Certified Public Accountant. He earned his undergraduate degree from Le Moyne College.
