Chris Cockburn is the Cybersecurity Advisor (CSA) with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) for Region 7, which covers Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. As the CSA, Chris is the liaison between Federal services and State, Local, territorial and Tribal Governments, Critical Infrastructure and Private Industry. He serves as the focal point for communications to promote Cyber Preparedness, incident response, risk mitigation and situational awareness. He provides direct coordination, outreach, and regional support to protect cyber components essential to the sustainability, preparedness, and protection of the Nation’s Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR) and State, Local, Territorial, and Tribal (SLTT) governments.
Prior to joining CISA Chris was a Department of Defense (DoD) civilian and an enlisted active-duty member serving with the United States Air Force (USAF) for a total of 24 years. In his time with the USAF he filled many roles to include Desktop Support & Server Administrator, Certified Cisco Academy Instructor, Vulnerability Management Technician, and Boundary Defense Technician. Most recently Chris was a Cyber Operations Planner for both offensive & defensive cyber missions. He planned missions for threat hunt operations, adversarial tactics emulation, and provided options for cyberspace effects in support of special operation forces.
