Mr. John Bryant serves as a Cybersecurity Advisor for Region 7 (IA, KS, MO and NE) for the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Integrated Operations Division. Based in Kansas City, Missouri he supports the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) mission of partnering with industry and government to understand and manage risk, strengthening the security and resilience of the nation’s critical infrastructure.
His programs coordinate Cyber preparedness, risk mitigation and incident response. Mr. Bryant provides Cybersecurity resource briefings, Cybersecurity assessments, and Incident Response planning to the nation’s sixteen critical infrastructure sectors and state, local, tribal, and territorial government entities.
Prior to joining CISA, Mr. Bryant spent 11 years working for the U.S. Army with the last 4 as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Army University and the Command General Staff College (CGSC) on Fort Leavenworth, KS. He was responsible for the operations and security of the Information Technology Architecture and Infrastructure of the campus.
Mr. Bryant began his career in U.S. Naval Intelligence, where above daily duties he
developed physical security products for evacuating U.S. Citizens and supported
the design and construction of a new Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). Following his 9 years of service, Mr. Bryant held various IT positions in both the Private and Government sectors, which includes 9 years in Cybersecurity, 8 years in IT Management, and 8 years as CIO for three different organizations.
Mr. Bryant holds a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Development and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology, both from Upper Iowa University. He is a member of (ISC)2 and is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) in good standing for the past 9 years.
Mr. Bryant has received the Superior Civilian Award for his work on the Combined Arms Center’s Information Technology Assessment for the Deputy to the Commanding General (DtCG), Commander’s Award for Civilian Service for the 106th Signal Brigade Commander for his support as the Business Division Chief, and the Meritorious Civilian Service Medal from the Commanding General of Army University as the CIO and his performance during the Pandemic in securely shifting the entire campus to virtual learning. He resides in Kansas City Missouri with his wife where they enjoy time with their three granddaughters and one grandson living in the area.
