Lance Spitzner Training Director, SANS Securing The Human, SANS Institute

Mr. Lance Spitzner is an internationally recognized leader in the field of cyber threat research and security training and awareness. He has helped develop and implement numerous multi-cultural security awareness programs around the world for organizations as small as 50 employees and as large as 100,000. He invented and developed the concept of honeynets, is the author of several books, and has published over thirty security whitepapers.

Mr. Spitzner started his security career with Sun Microsystems as a senior security architect, helping secure Sun’s customers around the world. He is founder of the Honeynet Project; an international, non-profit security research organization that captures, analyzes, and shares information on cyber threats at no cost to the public.

Mr. Spitzner has spoken to and worked with numerous organizations, including the NSA, FIRST, the Pentagon, the FBI Academy, the President’s Telecommunications Advisory Committee, MS-ISAC, the Navy War College, the British CESG, the Department of Justice, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He has consulted around the world, working and presenting in over 20 countries on six different continents. His work has been documented in the media through outlets such as CNN, BBC, NPR, and The Wall Street Journal. He serves on the Distinguished Review Board for the Air Force Institute of Technology, Technical Review Board for CCIED, and the Information Assurance Curriculum Advisory Board at DePaul University. Before working in information security, Mr. Spitzner served as an armor officer in the Army’s Rapid Deployment Force and earned his MBA from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Currently, Lance is a certified instructor for the SANS Institute.

Brian Kenyon

Brian Kenyon is Vice President and CTO of Security Connected at McAfee, where he is responsible for the vision and go-to-market strategy and execution of the company’s Security Connected platform. Prior to this role, Brian was senior director of solution architecture where he led the engineering organization focused on developing comprehensive security and compliance. His team was responsible for designing solutions as well as addressing crisis situations in support of some of the world’s largest IT infrastructures.

In 2001 Brian joined Foundstone, which McAfee acquired in 2004. There he was the chief architect of Foundstone’s security operations center and played an integral role in designing and developing the company’s cutting-edge hardware and software solutions, including the award-winning and highly acclaimed FS1000. Brian was also responsible for the development and expansion of the company’s entire product service line, a key strategic growth area for the company.

Brian serves as a trusted advisor to industry and government organizations on key cybersecurity issues and best practices to guard against these evolving threats. He is lead author for Security Sage’s Guide to Hardening the Network Infrastructure, a co-author of Security Battleground: An Executive Field Manual, and contributing author of network architecture for Special Ops: Network and Host Security for Microsoft, Oracle, and UNIX.

Serial entrepreneur George Kurtz co-founded CrowdStrike, a cutting-edge, big data, security technology company focused on helping enterprises and governments protect their most sensitive intellectual property and national security information. Kurtz is an internationally recognized security expert, author, entrepreneur, and speaker. He has more than 20 years of experience in the security space, including extensive experience driving revenue growth and scaling small and large organizations. His entrepreneurial background and ability to commercialize nascent technologies has enabled him to drive innovation throughout his career by identifying market trends and correlating them with customer feedback, resulting in rapid growth for the businesses he has run.

His prior roles at McAfee, a $3-billion security company, include Worldwide Chief Technology Officer and GM, as well as SVP of Enterprise. Prior to joining McAfee, Kurtz started Foundstone in October 1999 as the founder and CEO responsible for recruiting the other six founding team members. Foundstone, a world wide security products and services company, had one of the leading incident response practices in the industry, and was acquired by McAFee in October of 2004. He also authored the best-selling security book of all time, Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets & Solutions.

Samuel Visner

Sam Visner is CSC’s Vice President and General Manager, Global Cybersecurity. In this role, Mr. Visner leads CSC’s cyber business and directs the development of strategy, including the development and management of cybersecurity technologies, services, and solutions. Reporting to Mr. Visner is CSC‘s Vulnerability Research Labs subsidiary, one of the world‘s leading malware analysis organizations. In a prior role, Mr. Visner directed CSC’s enforcement, security, foreign affairs and intelligence business development team, managing business growth and developing strategy for key national security segments.

Dr. Joanne Martin

Joanne Martin is currently IBM’s CISO and VP for IT Risk. In this role, she is responsible for defining and maintaining the vision, strategy, and programs that ensure IBM’s information assets are adequately protected. Her organization develops policy and processes to reduce IT risks globally, manages and responds to incidents, establishes standards, and guides the implementation of technology to support the enterprise security mission. Joanne is a member of the Security 50 group.

Previously, as a Distinguished Engineer and Vice President of Technology, Dr. Martin was responsible for supporting the development of IBM’s technical strategy and for the global technical community. She is Past-President of the IBM Academy of Technology, and was VP of Infrastructure Management Services for Global Technology Services (GTS), responsible for providing a consistent and coherent architecture for the development and delivery of service products in the transformed GTS. She served on the management team that developed and delivered IBM’s first supercomputer, with specific responsibility for the performance measurement and analysis of the system.
