Vikram Phatak Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board NSS Labs, Inc. Vikram Phatak is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for NSS Labs, Inc.  Mr. Phatak is one of the Information Security industry’s foremost thought leaders on vulnerability management and threat protection. With over 20 years of experience, he brings unique insight to the cyber security problems facing large enterprises today. A pioneer of internet security, Mr. Phatak founded Intermedia Sciences Group in 1994, one of the first internet service providers and internet security consulting firms in the United States. Intermedia was acquired in 1999 by Teleflex Inc. (NYSE: TFX), a global Fortune 500 company. There he served as Global Director of Networks & Security for two years before founding Lucid Security in 2001. At Lucid Security he created “Adaptive Intelligence,” a groundbreaking intrusion prevention technology deployed in hundreds of organizations worldwide. In 2006, Lucid Security was acquired by TrustWave Inc., a leading provider of information security and compliance management solutions to Fortune 2000 companies. He was named Chief Technology Officer at TrustWave where he was responsible for the management and development of its technology product lines. Mr. Phatak was named CEO of NSS Labs in 2007.

Jeanmarie Giordano Chief Underwriting Office for U.S & Canada AIG Financial Lines, Professional Liability Division Jeanmarie Giordano is the Chief Underwriting Officer for the US and Canada for the Professional Liability Division of AIG Financial Lines. In her capacity as CUO, Jeanmarie was involved in the development of the ReputationGuard product launched by AIG in 2011 and speaks regularly regarding the exposure companies face from a reputation threat or attack and the insurance protection available from AIG. Jeanmarie joined AIG in 1995 as a Claims Analyst in Environmental Claims before joining the Professional Liability Division as an underwriter where she eventually assumed management of the New York Region Branch for Professional Liability. In 2009 Jeanmarie became CUO of Professional Liability, Executive Liability. Jeanmarie earned a BA in Political Science and English Literature from Duquesne University and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. She is admitted to practice in New York State.

Jim Hansen Executive Vice President PhishMe Jim has over twenty-two years’ experience in sales, operations and executive management primarily focused in information security. His eleven years as a federal agent provided the opportunity to work a variety of highly publicized cases both in the United States and globally. Jim specializes in helping early to mid-stage companies develop revenue though services and product sales, build effective sales organizations and manage explosive growth. Most recently, Jim was one of the founders and the Chief Operating Officer of Mandiant (acquired by FireEye, Inc.), an information security start-up focused on incident response and computer forensics. He drove corporate strategy, initial revenue development and delivery, as well as building the sales program, which resulted in an average of 90% annual revenue growth over four years. Previously, Jim held executive and management positions in both sales and consulting organizations to include Trident Data Systems (acquired by Veridian), Veritect (acquired by General Dynamics), Foundstone (acquired by McAfee) and Oakley Networks (acquired by Raytheon). Jim’s last Law Enforcement position was serving as the Deputy Director of Computer Crime Investigations for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. In this role, he provided oversight and onsite investigation into the penetration of the Department of Defense’s systems around the globe. He appeared as an expert witness in both the United States and the United Kingdom on highly publicized cases. Jim’s field experience includes numerous undercover operations in counter-narcotics and specialized operations as a part of the national surveillance team. Jim holds a B.S. in Computer Science from St. Michael’s College and is a regular presenter and guest lecturer on proactive information security and incident response. Jim authored a chapter in Hacker Challenge and numerous articles in IT security publications.

Phillip E. Lacombe Vice President Parsons, Information Systems & Security Sector Before co-founding Secure Mission Solutions, Phil was an Executive Vice President for security provider Olive Group where he was a key member of the team that obtained acquisition funding as well as led its technology-enabled security practice through a period of dramatic growth in Middle East markets. Prior to joining Olive Group, he was a Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Integrated Security Solutions Business Unit of SAIC which was a unit he created from the integration of three business units into a single integrated security business unit of over $250 million. Phil previously was the Vice President, of the Secure Mission Solutions line of business at General Dynamics where he managed the $300 million security and systems business in the Intelligence Community, DoD and civilian agencies. Prior to General Dynamics, Phil was a Senior Vice President of Veridian where he was a key member of the corporate team that assembled Veridian through acquisition of Calspan, Veda, MRJ, Trident, Erim, & Signal. Additionally, he was President for the Information Technology Information Sharing and Analysis Center; a consortium of IT industry-leading companies working together to share threat, vulnerability and incident data and providing an industry interface to government.  Phil was also Director for the President’s Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection where he led the commission staff documenting vulnerability of the nation’s critical infrastructure, providing recommendations to the President and supporting the government’s initial critical infrastructure and nationwide cyber protection actions. Phil had a full career and retired from the US Air Force, before joining industry.  

Nick Leshock CISO, Director, Cyber Security Services, General Dynamics Information Technology

As chief information security officer and director of General Dynamics Information Technology’s cyber security services, Nick Leshock is responsible for developing and executing the enterprise information security program to ensure General Dynamics IT and customer information assets are protected while maximizing their availability to enable business growth. Mr. Leshock also supports General Dynamics IT’s cyber solutions strategy and efforts across the company to deliver advanced customer-centric cyber solutions. Mr. Leshock leverages 14 years of cyber security experience leading information assurance programs in the defense and intelligence communities to guide General Dynamics IT’s multi-disciplinary approach to addressing both internal and customer cyber defense challenges.

Prior to joining General Dynamics IT, Mr. Leshock served as the security consulting managing principal at Lucent Technologies where he led the regional expansion of the cyber security team, working closely with wire line and wireless telecommunications industries to secure current and next generation telecommunications, SIP, VoIP and mobile data solutions. Under his leadership, the practice developed numerous information assurance solutions for service provider class converged infrastructures.

Mr. Leshock’s career in the cyber security world includes experience working both IT and cyber operations at some of the most notable organizations around the globe. As a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, he delivered his industry experience while leading operations for the Regional Computer Emergency Response Team defending the Department of Defense Southwest Asia Theater of operations during Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He served in various leadership positions over a 13-year career as an Army communications officer, including managing tactical and strategic communications systems and culminating with service as a Presidential Communications Officer for the White House Communications Agency under the Clinton administration.

Mr. Leshock holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the United States Military Academy and a master’s degree in computer science and engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

Richard Bejtlich  Chief Security Strategist, FireEye

Richard Bejtlich is a nonresident senior fellow in the Center for 21st Century Security and Intelligence, part of the Foreign Policy program at Brookings. He is the Chief Security Strategist at FireEye, and was Mandiant’s CSO when FireEye acquired Mandiant in 2013. He is a former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer. His latest book is The Practice of Network Security Monitoring (No Starch Press, 2013).

Bejtlich’s research focuses on integrating strategic thought into private sector cyber defense. He asserts that computer networks are best protected by adopting strategies of rapid, holistic incident detection and response, but he is investigating the extent to which that approach scales beyond the enterprise to the “Internet of Things.”

Bejtlich is currently working on his master’s and doctorate in philosophy in war studies at King’s College London. He advises the cybersecurity start-ups Threat Stack, Sqrrl, and Critical Stack, and serves on the board of the Open Information Security Foundation. He blogs at taosecurity.blogspot.com.

Previously, Bejtlich was director of incident response for General Electric (GE), where he built and led the 40-member GE Computer Incident Response Team. Prior to GE, he operated TaoSecurity LLC as an independent consultant, protected national security interests for ManTech Corporation’s Computer Forensics and Intrusion Analysis Division, investigated intrusions as part of Foundstone’s incident response team, and monitored client networks for Ball Corporation. Bejtlich began his digital security career as a military intelligence officer in 1997 at the U.S. Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team, Air Force Information Warfare Center and Air Intelligence Agency.

Bejtlich has testified to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the House Committee on Homeland Security, the Senate Armed Services Committee, and the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. He has appeared on “Bloomberg West,” the “Nightly Business Report,” PBS “NewsHour,” CNN, “This Week in Defense News,” “The Kojo Nnamdi Show,” “To the Point,” Federal News Radio, and BBC Radio. He has been interviewed and cited byThe New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Forbes, Foreign Policy, and other newspapers and magazines. He appeared in the 2013 documentary film Hacked, and won The Economist’s first online debate on cybersecurity. He has delivered guest lectures at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Georgetown University, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy, University of Cambridge, and other institutions. He has spoken at the Atlantic Council, Chatham House, Politico, the Center for National Policy, and other think tanks.

Bejtlich wrote The Tao of Network Security Monitoring (Addison-Wesley, 2004) and Extrusion Detection: Security Monitoring for Internal Intrusions (Addison-Wesley, 2005), and co-authored Real Digital Forensics: Computer Security and Incident Response (Addison-Wesley, 2005). His article “Don’t Underestimate Cyber Spies: How Virtual Espionage Can Lead to Actual Destruction” appeared in Foreign Affairs in March 2013. He earned a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in history and a Bachelor of Science in political science from the United States Air Force Academy.

 

Jason Maloni  Senior Vice President & Chair, LEVICK

Mr. Maloni is a seasoned crisis communications professional who has been at the center of some of the most complex and challenging reputational issues and business disputes of our day. Regardless of where a catastrophe explodes, Mr. Maloni is always a part of the LEVICK landing party helping to articulate the facts of any situation for the news media, consumers, employees, regulators, financial analysts and shareholders. Mr. Maloni and his team have managed nearly one hundred matters related to data loss, hacktivism and state-sponsored attacks as the leader of LEVICK’s Data Security & Privacy Team. In 2010, LEVICK was awarded a Gold SABRE award for Crisis Campaign of the Year for its work on behalf of Heartland Payment Systems, the company at the center of what remains the world’s largest data breach. In the months since the breach Heartland’s leadership turned a crisis into an opportunity and the company’s CEO became an advocate for better data encryption standards and tougher security measures to thwart cyber criminals. As a spokesman for clients, Mr. Maloni has been quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post, CBS Evening News, and Wired. Mr. Maloni is a graduate of the University of Dayton.
