Michael Starks is a Cybersecurity Architect with more than seventeen years of information security experience. His history with ISSA begins in 2006 as a founding member of the Rochester, NY Chapter. Having held several board positions over the years, he now serves as President of the Fort Worth, Texas chapter, which experienced over 50% growth in 2017.
As a long-serving member of the International Ethics Committee, he has helped shape the way in which ethics are approached in the field, publishing several articles for the Ethics and Privacy column in the ISSA Journal.
In 2014, Michael was honored for his service as an ISSA Fellow, an exclusive program reserved for no more than 2% of membership.
Having spoken at conferences in New York, California and Texas, he uses humor to bring mundane technical subjects to life, and practical experience to highlight what actually works in real-world programs.
When not writing or speaking, he enjoys gardening, documentaries, reading and spending time with family.
