Gerard Stegmaier
Sr. Research Fellow – Economics of Privacy, George Mason University School of Law Partner, ReedSmith LLP Mr. Stegmaier is an attorney in Washington, D.C. and a Senior Research Fellow at the Program on the Economics of Privacy at George Mason University School of Law. He practices technology law with special emphasis in the areas of e-commerce, privacy, intellectual property and the First Amendment. His expertise includes transactional, regulatory and litigation matters for emerging enterprises as well as Fortune 100 companies. He acts regularly as outside global coordinating counsel for many leading enterprises for privacy and information governance, especially cross-border for cloud computing matters. In addition to his work as a Senior Research Fellow, Mr. Stegmaier also serves as an adjunct professor at George Mason University School of Law where he created and has taught one of the first courses on information privacy law for over ten years. He has represented many of the Internet’s pioneers on important questions of first impression. He serves on the Advisory Board of Internet Law & Regulation, a Bloomberg publication, and organizations such as the Wall Street Journal, and Harvard Business School regularly seek out his views. Mr. Stegmaier is a magna cum laude graduate of George Mason University School of Law where he was an editor of the law review.
