Margaret Loper, Ph.D. Chief Scientist

Dr. Margaret Loper is the Chief Scientist for the Information & Communications Laboratory at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. She has been involved in modeling and simulation research for more than thirty years, specifically focused on parallel and distributed systems. Her research contributions are in the areas of temporal synchronization, simulation testing, and simulation communication protocols.
Dr. Loper teaches simulation courses for both academic and professional education, and her book on modeling and simulation in the systems engineering life cycle was published in May 2015. She is currently leading research in areas related to data intensive systems, the Internet of Things, machine to machine trust, and the interoperability of live virtual and constructive simulations.
Dr. Loper holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Central Florida, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University.
