In his role as Branch Chief, Mr. Smith provides direct management of the Department’s Computer Security Incident Response Capabilities (DOLCSIRC), ensuring Departmental ability to detect, respond to and remediate enterprise and Agency potential and confirmed incidents. His responsibilities also include (but are not limited to) supporting Agencies in responding to cyber threats and working with internal and external law enforcement groups.
Before joining the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Mr. Smith worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, supporting its data and applications section. He also worked for the Federal Communications Commission as a contractor IT program manager in charge of the Network Security Operations Center (NSOC), and served as the Chief of Information Assurance during his tenure of military service.
Mr. Smith holds multiple certifications including being a Certified Information Systems Engineering Professional (ISSEP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH),Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP), and Project Management Professional (PMP). Additional certifications include Certified Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Certified in Risk and Information System Controls (CRISC), and Certified Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt. Additionally, he holds a Master of Business Administration from Webster University and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Computer Information Systems from Campbell University.
