Gene Bursley is an Incident Response Analyst at Trustwave SpiderLabs – the advanced security team focused on penetration testing, incident response, and application security. Assisting customers in preparing for and responding to breaches across the globe. In his time with Trustwave SpiderLabs Gene has investigated a range of cases including compromise of e-commerce systems, theft of military data, insurance fraud and financial fraud. Based in Chicago, Gene is originally from Grand Rapids Michigan. Gene has contributed to the development of the next generation of security practitioners by volunteering at the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition in Michigan for the past 5 years. Gene hold a Bachelors of Science in Computer Networking Technology and Network Security, and is currently completing a Masters of Science in Information Assurance. In his spare time Gene builds drones, breaks IoT devices, and investigates autonomous automobile technologies.
