David Fastabend Vice President, Advanced Information Solutions, Exelis David Fastabend is the Vice President of Advanced Information Solutions at Exelis. Exelis is a diversified, global aerospace, defense and information solutions company with strong positions in enduring and emerging global markets. The company was spun off from ITT Corporation on October 31, 2011. Headquartered in Herndon, VA, the Exelis Information Systems division has a strong heritage of applying highly specialized talent to provide customers with innovative solutions for their most critical missions, including the defense and intelligence, air traffic management, space and earth science, and homeland defense markets. Appointed to this position in January 2011, Mr. Fastabend is responsible for all aspects of the Advanced Information Solutions business area including performance, strategy, leadership, and customer relations. In this capacity he leads the information and cyber solutions strategy to enhance national security by providing information-enabled solutions for federal customers across DoD, intelligence, and civil agencies. Previously, Mr. Fastabend served as Director of Strategic Planning and Technology Development for Exelis, where he was responsible for shaping the business into a market-centric, customer-focused organization by leading strategic planning efforts. Prior to joining Exelis, Mr. Fastabend held a number of leadership positions within the United States Army. In his final assignment as a General Officer he served as Director of Strategy, Plans and Policy. Prior to that, he served in Iraq as Director of Strategic Operations, Multinational Forces Iraq. Mr. Fastabend holds a Master of Military Arts and Sciences degree from the Command and General Staff College, a Master of Science degree in structural dynamics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy. He is a published author and a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
